  8. Jellos!!  It's the time of year (Memorial Day weekend) when I think of all
  9. those great jellos I had as a kid back in the Midwest.  Does anyone have
  10. some real goodies?  To start things off, here's one from my mom's
  11. collection.  Yum!

  13.  HEAVENLY HASH

  15. 1 lg. can crushed pineapple with juice
  16. 1/2 c. sugar (can omit or adjust to taste) 
  17. 2 c. boiling water 
  18. 2 3 oz. pkgs. lime jello
  19. 2 2 oz. pkg. Dream Whip, whipped 
  20. 1 9 oz. pkg. cream cheese, cut in small cubes (I use no-fat cr. cheese)
  21. 1 c. chopped pecans

  23. Bring the pineapple, juice, sugar, and water to boil.  Add jello and stir
  24. until dissolved.  Chill until it starts getting thick, then add the Dream
  25. Whip, cream cheese, and pecans.  Mix well, then chill well.  It turns out
  26. fluffy.  I leave out the sugar and substitute no-fat cr. cheese and it
  27. turns out just fine.

  29. Note for those who don't know the mysteries of "jello": it's flavored
  30. gelatin;  I don't know what the equivalent of Dream Whip is; it's a
  31. dehydrated non-dairy substitute for whipped cream that has been in Midwest
  32. U.S. kitchens for a long time!
